June 2026 several of us are going to take on theĀ 30-Day Movie Scene Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we share a YouTube clip from a movie and explain what is intriguing about that particular scene. It is a simple daily activity of sharing a Movie Scene.
Yesterday was the 82nd anniversary of D-Day. Many film historians consider The Longest Day the most accurate depiction of the pivotal moment in the history of WWII. Today’s scene from that movie references the 82nd

This month marks the 78th consecutive month that friendsĀ Jeff NeelonĀ andĀ Jaclyn DonovanĀ have taken on some sort of challenge. For June 2026 participants simply commit to sharing one movie scene from a film. Each scene just needs to be accompanied by a simple explanation on what is happening or why it was chosen. Hope you decide to join us or enjoy the clips we share
Day 7-82nd
D-Day was the name given to the invasion of the five beaches of Normandy. The Longest Day was a movie that was released in 1962 and had the most impressive cast ever in war film. One of those actors was John Wayne who was cast as Lt. Colonel Benjamin Vandervoort
My selected scene occurs after Lt. Col. Benjamin Vandervoort, lands in Normandy with the 82nd Airborne Division and suffers a fractured ankle. Despite his injury, he continues leading his men and eventually encounters a group of soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division. The meeting highlights the confusion and scattered nature of the airborne landings on D-Day and what Vandervoort tells the 101st-“YOU ARE IN THE 82ND NOW“.
