In September 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Monuments Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will spotlight one of the nearly 50,000 National Monuments or Memorials across the United States. In addition, we’ll feature a wide range of other tributes—from statues honoring heroes and athletes to memorials recognizing outstanding citizens and many other categories. Today the post is on a WW I Memorial located in Texarkana TX.

Today I will be flying to Shreveport LA and then driving to Texarkana TX to work with of my Coach4aday LLC clients. One of the fascinating things about Texarkana is they have a federally built building that is located in two different states. The building houses a federal courthouse (Western District of Arkansas & Eastern District of Texas) and US Post Office. Below is a photo of the building with Texas on the left and Arkansas on the right.

Here is a photo of me standing in both Texas and Arkansas in front of the building.

Sitting outside of the US Post Office and Courthouse on the Texas side is a WW I Memorial.

Monuments-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about a Monument in September

  1. Record something about a particular US Monument. Make sure you include the location and something about its significance. Try, if possible, to include a photo.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

September 16-WW I Memorials

The WW I Memorial in Texarkana is not unique.

Historian Mark Levitch, who runs the World War I Memorial Inventory Project, has identified about 2,000 memorials so far via archives, newspapers, and community records, and estimates there may be as many as 10,000 across the country.
