Today’s word for the 30-Day Quotation Coach4aday Challenge is WEEKEND.
One of the first things I learned about being retired was that everyday felt like Saturday with the exception of Sunday. My life beginning in 2018 became a series of WEEKEND days. No weekdays just 6 Saturdays every week.
Back in March 2020 the pandemic began to take a toll on how American’s defined Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Just about every event for the course of almost a year was cancelled or extremely modified. In fact, in September 2020 the NY Times had an article called “On How the Quarantine Killed the Weekend”.
In 2022 many events have returned and American’s and people around the world are rediscovering or redefining what a WEEKEND means. The biggest changes seem to be spending more time on activities like gardening, leisure, and recreation. The NY Times charts below demonstrate pre-Covid and during Covid. People became reflective about life’s purpose and a corrective balance on how they spent their time took place.
