Today for the 30-Day Movie Coach4aday Challenge I watched a movie on WAR GAMES.

Located a Matthew Broderick film that is forty years old. The title was “War Games“. and it was released in 1983.

For those nostalgia buffs Broderick, the actor will always be associated as Ferris Bueller. Yet in this movie he is David Lightman.

Broderick is 60 years old.

Synopsis

David Lightman is a computer whiz kid who accidentally connects into a top-secret super-computer at NORAD which has complete control over the U.S. nuclear arsenal. The computer is programmed to play games including “Global Thermonuclear War” which Lightman activates for real.

Pretty cool that a movie 40 years old was able to grasp that computers will soon play an extremely important role in everyday life was coming sooner than most people could believe in the 1980’s.
