For September I am participating in the 30-Day Literary Lesson Coach4aday Challenge. The concept is to profile a lesson a book, article, or written words has taught you. Today I am focusing on the importance of TRUST.

Reading books written by Seth Godin and subscribing to his blog has reinforced the importance of TRUST. One of his quotes that I love is below:

“Earn TRUST, earn TRUST, earn TRUST. Then you can worry about the rest”

Literary Lesson

It is not just Seth Godin who has preached about the importance of TRUST.

Patrick Lencioni in his book “The Five Dysfunctions of Teams” list the Absence of TRUST as the first dysfunction.

John Maxwell in his book “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” includes Law 6 “The Law of Solid Ground: TRUST Is the Foundation of Leadership”

Simon Sinek has a great video about the importance of that virtue in comparison with performance.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
