Today for the 30-Day Podcast Coach4aday Challenge my theme is TOM.

This post is not about any Tom no it is podcast with Tom Hanks. He has been part of a lot of great movies and even a cable TV series.

The back story of why the podcast interview happened with Mr. Hanks really intrigued me. It all became a reality because the podcast host Connor Ratliff had been cast in the Hanks-produced HBO series Band of Brothers. At the last minute, Ratliff was told they were recasting the part because Hanks thought he had “dead eyes.” So, decades later, Connor started a podcast in which he interviewed famous people, ranging from Jon Hamm to Damon Lindelof, about their own professional rejections. It took over 30 episodes but eventually he got Tom Hanks to be guest.

One of the better podcasts rated in 2021 is Dead Eyes. That is the show created out of rejection.

It was created and is hosted by Connor Ratliff. Episode 31 of this show is just titled “Tom” and it is the fulfillment of Connor’s answer to what happened when he got let go.

Famous people or those constantly in the public spotlight often get tempted to deflect any choice that is criticized. That is certainly the case with this episode. Tom Hanks came onto the show and owned that he made the decision. He also shared that he does not recall making it. What takes place listening to this show is that Tom Hanks has a gift for making people feel comfortable. Sometimes it is refreshing that a talent you may admire is not a jerk.
