This country flag it is a vertical triband with red outer bands and a single white middle band. Located in the white band is the coat of arms.

  1. Historical Significance: The current design of the flag dates back to February 25, 1825 when it was officially adopted. It was created by José de la Riva-Agüero.
  2. National Coat of Arms: The national coat of arms is located on the hoist side (left side) of the white band. It features a vicuña, a native animal to this country, on a wreath, surrounded by the national flag and two laurel branches.
  3. State and War Flag: The national flag of this country serves as both the state flag and the war flag. This means that it is used both in civilian and military contexts.
