#StorageBags October 29

In October 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Kitchen Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will spotlight an appliance, utensil, or gadget found in a commercial or residential kitchen. The tools and devices used to prepare and cook food is quite extensive and this month we will take a look at both the sublime and ridiculous. My post today is focused on STORAGE BAGS

Ziploc storage bags were introduced by Dow Chemical in 1968, building on earlier resealable plastic technology invented in the 1950s. Their airtight, reusable design quickly revolutionized how households stored food and small items. Over the years, features like double seals and freezer-safe materials made Ziploc a staple in nearly every American kitchen.
Ziplock does not have a monopoly on resealable bags as there is lots of competition. Major competitors include Glad, Hefty, Great Value (Walmart), Up & Up (Target), Amazon Basics, and Boulder which we have in our kitchen. Boulder is a brand name for a line of plastic resealable storage bags (as well as trash bags and food wraps) sold primarily at Aldi grocery stores.
Here are some sizes we have.

Kitchen-30 Day Challenge Guidelines
As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about an appliance, utensil, or gadget found in a Kitchen during the month of October
- Record something about an item found in a Kitchen. Make sure you include a description and its purpose. Try, if possible, to include a photo.
- Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
- Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge
October 29th-Storage Bags
Was attempting to research how many bags are sold in the US every year. I wasn’t able to find a reliable figure for exactly how many resealable storage bags (such as zipper-closure food-storage bags) are sold annually in the U.S., but here is what the market data does show:
The U.S. “reclosable food storage bags” market is projected to grow from about US$2.8 billion in 2025 to about US$4.6 billion by 2031. That is the reason why they can be found in just about every US Kitchen.
