One of my favorite bands from the 1970’s is from SPARTANBURG SC. The name of the band is the Marshall Tucker Band.

There are lots of neat things that are connected to SPARTANBURG including the Beacon Drive In, some very fine colleges, BMW, and it was the birthplace of Marshall Tucker Band (MTB). The band, named after the piano tuner who owned the band’s rehearsal hall, made 14 albums of easygoing Southern rock from 1973 to 1984. The band played at the inauguration of President Jimmy Carter in 1977. Its success waned after Tommy Caldwell died in an automobile accident in 1980. His older brother Toy Caldwell also a founding member of the band died in 1993.

One of my friends from Rock Hill SC David Angel is good friends with members of the band including Doug Gray. The Marshall Tucker Band came together as a young, hungry, and quite driven six-piece outfit in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1972. In 1973 they released their first EP, simply titled ‘The Marshall Tucker band.

There was a Day 19 Quiz on Computer parts and congrats to Jaclyn Donovan for scoring a 100.

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
