For December 2023, several of us are participating in the “30-Day ANATOMY Coach4aday Challenge.” My choice today is the RHOMBOID.

During this challenge, the participants select a bone or muscle in the human body, providing details about its location and physiological significance.

How the Challenge Works

  1. Identify one anatomical part of the body.
  2. Describe what its purpose is.
  3. Describe where it is located.

Identify Your Choice

My choice today is actually a group of muscles referred to as the Rhomboids. There are two the Major and the Minor.

Purpose

The Rhomboid Major and Minor both retract and rotate the scapula.

Location

The rhomboids are muscles located in the upper back, between the shoulder blades. They play a role in moving and stabilizing the shoulder blades (scapulae) and are important for maintaining good posture. When you squeeze your shoulder blades together, you are engaging the rhomboid muscles.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
