#Recap May 31

In May 2025, many of us completed the 30-Day Golf Coach4aday Challenge. Each day the goal was to share something about a particular golf course, golf equipment, or to actually get on the course and play a few holes. Golf is the only sport where you can be furious, humbled, and ecstatic—all in the span of one hole, and still call it “relaxing.” It’s a game where you are cajoling and chasing a tiny ball into a gopher hole. For many it becomes a lifelong obsession and an excuse to buy outrageous pants and the latest driver.

Today my golf observation is a RECAP of the past month.

This challenge was not for everybody but there are plenty that enjoy the game despite not being anywhere close to playing at a high level. That includes me. The past 30 Days were fun.

Golf 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants this month were encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances.

  1. Record something about your day on the course or talk about a golf course or piece of equipment.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

Day 31-Recap

Over the past four weeks, Jeff Neelon, Jaclyn Donovan, and I made a daily effort to carve out time to share some aspect about the game of golf.

For me personally some of the magical moments in May was reading Jeff’s profiles on talented golfers or Jaclyn’s take on some unbelievable international golf courses. I enjoyed writing about USGA rules and equipment and watching videos on the game of golf. Despite participating in the challenge, I’m still in possession of a high handicap.

June 2025 Challenge

Juen 2025 will mark the 66th consecutive 30-Day Coach4aday Challenge that several of us will take on. Next month our quest will be called “On This Date”. Next month Jeff Neelon, Jaclyn Donovan, and I invite participants to engage with a meaningful or fun activity each day based on a historical event, anniversary, or personal memory that happened on that specific date. More details in tomorrows’ post.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
