August 2026 several of us are going to take on the 30-Day Plugged in Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, we will feature an item from home or office that requires being plugged into a source of electricity to operate. We will reflect on how it makes life easier. For Day 16 it is the RAZOR.

It is becoming a common theme in this Plugged in Challenge: electricity did not immediately replace many manual devices. Jacob Schick’s invention of the electric razor was no exception—it did not immediately replace the traditional razor. It took decades for electric razors to become affordable and widely used in American households.

Day 16-Electric Razor

Even though the electric razor was growing in popularity in the 1930’s the single edge razor blade was the dominate seller.

Here is video from a barber showing everyone how to use it properly.
