#Percolator October 2

In October 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Kitchen Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will spotlight an appliance, utensil, or gadget found in a commercial or residential kitchen. The tools and devices used to prepare and cook food is quite extensive and this month we will take a look at both the sublime and ridiculous. My post today is focused on a PERCOLATOR.

Every morning, I push the start button to my Keurig and brew myself one cup of coffee using a K-Cup. Growing up my parents had a Percolator Coffee Pot that made 9 cups. It was cool to smell, hear, and see the coffee pop up in the little glass bulb on the lid. In the 1970’s the automatic drip coffee pot became all the rage, but my parents hung on to their percolator. It looked similar to the one below.

Kitchen-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about an appliance, utensil, or gadget found in a Kitchen during the month of October

  1. Record something about an item found in a Kitchen. Make sure you include a description and its purpose. Try, if possible, to include a photo.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

October 2-Percolator

The percolator is not totally extinct in fact many campers utilize some type of a small percolator. Walmart carries an Ozark Trail 12 cup camping coffee maker.

This type of coffee pot utilizes gravity and of course boiling water. For those that don’t know here is how to brew coffee with a percolator.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
