Lead contaminated water is certainly an issue many are aware of. Using lead in certain products like water pipes has been banned. This easily worked and corrosion-resistant metal has been used for pipes, pewter and paint since Roman times. Lead was also added to gasoline. This practice has also been banned.
Despite products lead has disappeared in it still holds high value in these three areas.
Lead-Acid Batteries: Lead is a primary component in lead-acid batteries, which are commonly used in vehicles like cars and trucks. These batteries are also used in backup power systems and industrial equipment.
Radiation Shielding: Lead is used in medical and industrial settings as a radiation shield. It is commonly found in X-ray aprons, shields, and certain equipment to protect against harmful radiation.
Ammunition: Lead is still used in the production of bullets and shot for firearms. While there are alternatives available, lead remains a common material due to its density and cost-effectiveness.
