#Mechanic July 16

In July 2025, many of us are taking part in the 30-Day “Tool” Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, the challenge encourages participants to share a tool that can help people with productivity, organization, and communication. Tools are essential in many occupations and hobbies. Today my choice is going to be on the list of tools a MECHANIC may need.

If you want to be a professional in just about any industry there is an investment. For automotive mechanics that is not only in training and education but tools. Mechanics need a large variety of tools to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of vehicle systems. These include basic hand tools (like wrenches, screwdrivers, and sockets), power tools, and specialty equipment for working on engines, brakes, electronics, diagnostics, and more. My guess is that my friend Jim Kirkland when he owned K-Land Tire in Lumberton had lots and lots of tools.

Tool-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about a tool in July.

  1. Record something about a particular tool. It can be physical or digital. It may also be something that has been replaced with advanced technology.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

July 16-Mechanic Tools

If someone wants to work on vehicles either as a hobby or a profession there is a wide list of tools that are required. On the website ToolUp.com I was able to locate a comprehensive list of tools needed for mechanics.

Here is a video on ten tools to begin with for either a “Shade Tree Mechanic‘ or an auto mechanic apprentice.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
