#Lost October 22

For October 2023, I am participating in the “30-Day 30 Words Coach4aday Challenge” where the topic today is on LOST.

October 22nd Topic

After our North Carolina community was impacted by Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and Hurricane Florence in 2018, I crafted a post on how to replace lost documents. Here is a link to that post that is geared especially for North Carolina paperwork. It often takes a lot of patience to replace critical legal documents, but it can be accomplished.

Losing a materialistic possession that evokes strong memories takes an emotional toll because it cannot be replaced by a governmental agency. Most researchers will say that when this happens, we actually are experiencing bereavement.

When witnessing individuals who’ve lost everything to a disaster, it’s clear they experience stress, helplessness, and a loss of control. What steps do those who eventually find happiness take post-trauma?

At some point many victims of losing realize there is a chance for a clean slate or starting over. It doesn’t come quick and is not easy, but they decide to begin anew.
