June 2026 several of us are going to take on theĀ 30-Day Movie Scene Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we share a YouTube clip from a movie and explain what is intriguing about that particular scene. It is a simple daily activity of sharing a Movie Scene.

My focus today is from the 1986 film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Offā€ when Principal Ed Rooney is on Line 1 of the school office phone with who he thinks is Ferris Bueller but learn from his secretary Grace that he has Ferris Bueller on Line 2.

This month marks the 78th consecutive month that friendsĀ Jeff NeelonĀ andĀ Jaclyn DonovanĀ have taken on some sort of challenge. For June 2026 participants simply commit to sharing one movie scene from a film. Each scene just needs to be accompanied by a simple explanation on what is happening or why it was chosen. Hope you decide to join us or enjoy the clips we share.

Day 5-Ferris Bueller is on Line 2

In Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Ferris Bueller skips school for a day of adventure around Chicago while determined principal Ed Rooney becomes obsessed with proving that Ferris is faking his illness. Rooney spends the day chasing clues and trying to catch Ferris in the act, but Ferris always seems to stay one step ahead. By the end of the film, Rooney’s efforts backfire, leaving him embarrassed while Ferris successfully returns home before his parents discover the truth.

One of those attempts is shown below where Cameron Frye is pretending to be Sloan Peterson dad to get her excused from school via a phone call to Principal Ed Rooney. Let’s just say Ferris outfoxes Rooney.
