For January 2024 several of us will be participating in the “30-Day 6 Degrees of Separation Coach4aday Challenge”-today we dive into connections between JACKIE GLEASON and Julie Roberts.
Jackie Gleason, born on February 26, 1916, in Brooklyn, New York, was a multifaceted American entertainer known for his contributions to television and film. Renowned as “The Great One,” Gleason achieved fame as the creator and star of “The Honeymooners,” a classic sitcom that showcased his comedic genius.
Beyond television, he had a successful film career, earning acclaim for roles in movies like “The Hustler.” where he played the character “Minnesota Fats” competing against Paul Newman who was cast as “Fast Eddie Felton”. Gleason’s influence on entertainment, marked by his distinctive comedic style, continues to be celebrated, and he remains a legendary figure in American show business. His trademark phrases included “How Sweet It Is” along with “And Away We Go“
Rules of the Challenge
Many people have heard of this concept. The notion of six degrees of separation grew out of work conducted by the social psychologist Stanley Milgram in the 1960s. It then became a 1993 film named appropriately “Six Degrees of Separation.”
Organizing a six degrees of separation challenge involves creating a chain of people, each connected to the next by a mutual acquaintance. The goal is to demonstrate that any two people in the world can be connected through a chain of six or fewer personal connections.

Here is how to participate:
- Identify the First and Last Person in the Chain.
- Go thru the connections with a brief explanation.
- Do this daily for 30 Days posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

- Jackie Gleason was married three times, but his first wife Genevieve Halford gave him two daughters Gerladine and Linda
- Linda Gleason was born in and married Jason Miller in 1963. They divorced in 1973 but had three children including John Anthony Miller III.
- Jason Miller was an award-winning playwright and won a Pulitzer Prize in 1973. He was the father of John Anthony Miller who changed his name to Jason Patric.
- Jason Patric is an actor who has had a number of roles in film. In 1991 after Julie Roberts broke off her wedding to Kiefer Sutherland the two dated.
- Julia Roberts is an American film icon.
