In November 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Human Condition Coach4aday Challenge. “Human conditions” can refer to the wide range of physical, mental, emotional, and social experiences that define our lives. Each day we will spotlight or describe those experiences. I am going to use this challenge to dive into a book called “The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows” written by John Koenig. It provides the readers words for feelings or human conditions we might be hard to describe. My condition for today is FAWTLE.

Optimistically, I’m hoping that when my wife reads the definition of Fawtle, she’ll decide that a few of my flaws actually enhance our relationship. I can only imagine that my fellow 30-Day Challengers, Jeff Neelon and Jaclyn Donovan, are hoping their spouses feel that same spark.
If you are in a marriage or a relationship pray that Fawtle truly is a term for endearment. Maybe an upgrade from “Bless His/Her Heart”
Human Condition-30 Day Challenge Guidelines
As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about a Human Condition during the month of November.
- Record or Describe a Human Condition. Try, if possible, to provide an example
- Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
- Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge
If you need help in clarifying Human Conditions here are some examples

November 19-Fawtle
John Koenig’s definition of Fawtle captures the endearing way a partner’s small imperfections can deepen affection rather than diminish it. By recognizing these quirks as part of what makes someone uniquely lovable, couples can strengthen their bond and appreciation for one another. Embracing Fawtle helps shift the focus from unrealistic ideals to the authentic, human qualities that make relationships richer and more resilient.
