In September 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Monuments Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will spotlight one of the nearly 50,000 National Monuments or Memorials across the United States. In addition, we’ll feature a wide range of other tributes—from statues honoring heroes and athletes to memorials recognizing outstanding citizens and many other categories. Today the post is on the ELK Antlers Arch in Jackson WY.

One common geographical mistake people make is thinking Jackson Hole is a town it is just a reference to a massive valley in Teton County WY. Inside that valley lies the Town of Jackson WY. Jackson is home to the George Washington Memorial Park that most people call the Town Square. Each corner of that square has entrance marked with a massive Elk Antler Arch. Below is a photo of my wife and I from a visit in August 2022.

Monuments-30 Day Challenge Guidelines
As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about a Monument in September
- Record something about a particular US Monument. Make sure you include the location and something about its significance. Try, if possible, to include a photo.
- Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
- Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge
September 9-Elk Antler Arch
Antler arches have been gates to the Jackson Town Square since 1960. The antlers are from elk that winter on the National Elk Refuge. About 7,500 elk spend each winter on the refuge. The bulls shed their antlers each spring. Antlers are picked up by local Boy Scouts and sold by public auction in this square each May. All four arches were built by the Jackson Hole Rotary Club.
One of the great places I have ever had to visit is Jackson Hole and its breathtaking views of the Tetons.
