October 6th Topic

Beginning a new career can be exciting and also challenging. It often involves stepping out of your comfort zone, learning new skills, and adapting to various leadership styles. Often the newness or maybe the personal change required in being employed at something new becomes a deterrent for job advancement.

In today’s workforce there are many opportunities that can be leveraged because the competition in many fields has been thinned out due to poor retention rates. Quite quitting, ghosting, and resistance to anything but remote work creates a window of opportunity for newly hired employees.

30 Words or Less on Career Advice

One way to advance your career when starting out is everyday do the following:

1.GET UP

2. SHOW UP

3. DON’T THROW UP”

In today’s workforce supervisors, managers, and leaders are finding dependable, reliable, and engaged people rarer and rarer. The law of supply and demand can work in your favor if consistency is a professional work trait you possess.

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
