Throughout December 2024, several of us are taking part in the 30-Day PPT Coach4aday Challenge. PPT is an acronym for People Places or Things. Each day we share our insights, thoughts, or memories about a person (living or dead), a place (we have visited or learned about) or a thing that intrigues us. Today I am going to write about PEARL HARBOR.

Today is the 83rd Anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the beginning of the United States involvement in World War II. I remember my mom telling me as a teenager (just 15 years old) she got home from church in Far Hills NJ and the radio told them the devastating news. She said the next day the papers were full of large font headlines.

It is located on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, became a U.S. naval base in the early 20th century, serving as a key strategic location in the Pacific.

December 7th-Pearl Harbor

As far as top-ranked tourist attractions in the United States Pearl Harbor have consistent numbers to keep it highly ranked. It draws over 1.8 million visitors annually which is remarkable because of how far removed it is from most of the people who come visit.

This summer I got to visit Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum located in Hyde Park, New York, There was so much history about the attack on Pearl Harbor on display.

Located a then and now video on YouTube about this historic place in US History.
