#Attendance October 23

For the month of October 2024 several of us are participating in theĀ 30-Day World Series Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we attempt to learn something about some aspect of the World Series. Today I am focusing on ATTENDANCE at the event.

Changes to design of baseball stadiums have impacted not only the experience but attendance. Regular season games have seen a wide range of numbers and so have World Series Game. The lowest attended World Series Game took place in Game Five of the 1908 event where only 6,210 watched the Chicago Cubs defeat the Detroit Tigers and clinch the championship.

World Series 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines

  1. Each day in October 2024 write about the World Series
  2. Share at least one fact about the event or the participants.
  3. If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms

October 23rd-Attendance

Here are some notable World Series attendance records throughout its history:

1. Largest Single-Game Attendance (1959 World Series):

2. Highest Average Attendance (1959 World Series):

  • The 1959 World Series also set the record for the highest average attendance across a series. Over the six games, the series averaged 83,407 fans per game, largely due to the massive crowds at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which could accommodate more fans than traditional baseball stadiums. Three of the six games were played in Los Angles.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
