Over the past two years I would use the third of each month to profile a blog or twitter feed I follow. I called it the Blog of the Month. I came to the conclusion at the end of 2020 that there was something better to write about, but I was not sure of what. The answer became clear, focus and write on 1 FOLLOWER of this blog.

The idea is something I learned from The Art of Blogging post by Cristian Mihai. The title of that blog post The Most Underrated Way To Grow Your Audience”. I was attracted to this post because I thought I would discover the secret sauce of blogging success. I rediscovered something better. Time spent investing in relationships is time well spent.

Early in Cristian’s post he shares that bloggers may be overlooking something. His advice to writers was to envision FOLLOWERS as people not numbers that show up on our stat dashboard. I needed that lesson but more importantly I needed to create a habit that would change that bias I had. Getting to know and understand people who read our posts takes time. The gift of knowing something about a person outweighs having just FOLLOWERS.

So starting in 2021 the days of the month that have a 4 in it will be a day to post about 1 FOLLOWER. Today it is Cristian Mihai. So here is what I want to say to him and what I have learned from him..

Cristian thanks for starting a YouTube Channel the video below helped me solve a problem on a new monthly niche.

  • Your daily posts are admired by me because they are well-written
  • I want to make sure you know that when you post something you are not alone
  • You truly are thinking about your readers in all the ways you listed below:
  • What does this person dream about?
  • What are their struggles?
  • Which resources could educate them? How? Why?
  • What could you teach them?
  • What questions do they badly want answered?
  • I relate to something else you wrote

Sometimes I feel that what I am writing about is boring, so I just stop typing. I used to walk around the room and listen to music and think of ideas. Now, I just sit at my desk and write. Utter solitude, heartbreaking silence. I like it.

Cristian thank for being my #1FOLLOWER and hope you won’t be offended, I don’t plan on you being the last. Oh by the way everybody should be following your The Art of Blogging.
