May 2026 the 30-Day Coach4aday Challenge will feature travel pictures. It is a simple daily activity of posting a photo of a place that you have traveled to or a location you plan to visit. Today the focus shifts to the view from an open GATE to a football stadium.

This month marks the 77th consecutive month that friends Jeff Neelon and Jaclyn Donovan have taken on some sort of challenge. For May 2026 participants simply commit to taking or sharing one travel-themed photo each day for 30 days. Each photo just needs to be accompanied by a simple descriptor. Day 28-Open Gate at Football Stadiums

One of my pet peeves as a Director of Athletics was finding a gate to one of our facilities left open. Over time, I realized it was not just something that happened on my campus, but on campuses everywhere. When I travel, I enjoy walking through college campuses and exploring, and more often than not I come across an unlocked gate that provides access to a stadium. Here are a few photos that prove the point.

Neyland Stadium-Univ of Tennessee-March 2015

On a road trip to watch UNC Pembroke play in the 2015 NCAA Div II Basketball Regionals at Lincoln Memorial University with my friend Giuseppe “Joe” Terranova we spent the night in Knoxville TN. In the evening we walked around the Univ. of Tennessee campus an found a gate opened at Neyland Stadium that allowed me to get a photo of Joe in the endzone.

Huntington Bank Stadium-Univ of Minnesota-August 2018

On a trip to watch the Minnesota Vikings play an exhibition football Joe and I found an open gate at Huntington Bank Stadium on a Saturday Morning. Of course we invited ourselves in.

Broadview Stadium at Univ of Buffalo – August 2024

Traveling across the State of New York in August 2024 and decided to tour the University of Buffalo which is a member of the MAC. There was a gate opened at Broadview Stadium, and I walked in and snapped a few pics.

Kinnick Stadium-Univ of Iowa-August 2023

One of my favorite trips was touring the State of Iowa. Toured the University of Iowa and found a gate opened at Kinnick Stadium. Big 10 Stadiums are large.
