September’s 30 Day #Coach4adayChallenge is to profile a biography on someone. Today the post is profiling a leader, author, and personal finance expert on getting out of DEBT. His name is Dave Ramsey.

How does someone go about living a life free of DEBT? Many experts say that DEBT free individuals keep track of their bills, understand much they earn, how much they save and how much they invest. They also listen to experts and have a tracking system in place.

Dave Ramsey Story

Dave Ramsey grew up in Tennessee and at an early age became committed to the concept of work. He became a licensed real estate agent at 18. He attended and graduated from UT Knoxville with a degree in Finance and Real Estate. It didn’t take long for his work ethic for him to amass a rental real estate portfolio worth millions of dollars. He accomplished this before the age of 30.

‘Ramsey Investments, Inc” was the name of Dave Ramsey business and by 1986 it was prospering. Adapting to change is hard for any business and in 1988 that challenge came calling on Ramsey Investments. The small local bank financing Ramsey’s real-estate business was sold to a larger bank. Change in ownership resulted in the larger entity demanding loan payments as soon as possible. Dave paid off much of what was owed but not all of it and he filed for bankruptcy in September 1988 at the age of 28.

Many successful leaders let a challenge or disappointment become great teachable moments. That was the case for Dave Ramsey. It didn’t happen overnight but a series of steps eventually led him become a trusted advisor on how to get out of DEBT. That plan is called 7 Baby Steps.

Many people believe that being burden with DEBT is a given. That paradigm can be changed with a plan. Dave Ramsey has an excellent method but you have to become aware of behaviors that need to change.

Today you can listen or watch his advice on the Dave Ramsey Show. His show has about 13 millions listeners a week.

I found a fantastic documentary on YouTube about Dave Ramsey-Encourage you to watch it.

There are many bios on leaders that can help you with a plan to attach DEBT.
