Each month since January 2020 I have taken on a different COACH4ADAY 30 DAY CHALLENGE. The challenges have helped me and other grow along with learning. The challenges have helped in forming new positive habits that have enriched my life.

For April 2021 the challenge is to get out in NATURE for 30 consecutive days. Why NATURE? For a lot of reasons including a number of scientific based health benefits. Read more about that here.

There is another deeper and personal spiritual reason for being in NATURE. My belief is that everything in this world has been created by one force. Everything in the world is connected to that one force. Life has a tendency to want to disconnect us from that force. Spending quiet time in nature is way to remind us we all are one.

Robert Burns wrote a poem in 1790 called Sketch-New Year’s Day.

A few lines from that poem are a great reminder to all of us both young and old.

The voice of NATURE loudly cries, And many a message from the skies, That Something in us never dies.

Many researchers and health professionals are clearly telling us that children are not being exposed enough to NATURE. The same is true for adults. Nature can improve our mental health and the TED Talk by Dr. Nooshin Razani points out all the benefits. What she points out is that exposure to NATURE just helps us on so many physiological, emotional, and mental aspects of our well being. All it takes is to get outside and find something else that is alive and observe it. Trees, animals, ants, and grass all counts. When we observe and appreciate NATURE it gives us back the gift of understanding everything is connected.

The other benefit of being out in NATURE is as simple as offering each of us a change of scenery.

So how do you participate in this #Coach4adayChallenge for the next 30 Days?

The first is commit to observe, listen, and be still for some period of time each day in a place you define as NATURE. While you are doing that focus on something else that has life.

My list is not comprehensive and you should feel to edit as you see fit but it could include the following:

GET OUT IN GREEN SPACES

BE NEAR THE WATER

FIND A QUIET SPOT OUTSIDE

FIND A WAY TO EXERCISE OUTSIDE

LEARN OR PARTICIPATE IN AN OUTDOOR ACTIVITY

OBSERVE WHAT IS HAPPENING OUTSIDE

BREATHING OR MEDITATION OUTSIDE

The challenge biggest component is to get out there. Who is joining me? Let me know in the comments.
