For October 2023, I am participating in the “30-Day 30 Words Coach4aday Challenge” where the topic today is on CHOICE.

October 10th Topic

One of my daily habits is to make a choice to consume something on leadership every day. That might come in the form of a book, newsletter, online biography, or maybe a podcast. Last week James Clear in 3-2-1 Thursday Email Newsletter said something impactful about decision making. That thought is below in bold.

It’s hard to save poor early decisions with good late decisions.

  • It’s hard to write a best-selling book if you chose an unpopular topic.
  • It’s hard to build a happy marriage if you married an unhappy person.
  • It’s hard to make money in real estate if you overpaid at the beginning.

Certainly, things can be improved by making good decisions along the way, but the effects of poor early decisions tend to linger.”

Habits are something Clear writes about a lot. Check out his book “Atomic Habits

When it comes to making better choices in life habits help minimize erratic and impulsive decision making.

30 Words or Less on CHOICE

In life often we do not decide what happens to us, but we do have a choice on how we respond.”

When our decisions align with ingrained habits, systems, values, and goals we deeply cherish, the likelihood of making poor choices during crises often diminishes significantly.
