September 2026 several of us are going to take on the 30-Day Architectural Coach4aday Challenge each day, we will define an architectural term and provide examples of where it is located. This challenge will let observation, travel, history, and photography all intersect. For Day 24 it is on the VOUSSOIR.

Did not take French in high school or college so I did not recognize Voussoir. It is an individual wedge-shaped stone or masonry block that forms part of an arch. The stones are arranged in a curved ring, with each one pressing against its neighbors so the weight above the opening is transferred outward and downward into the supporting walls or piers.
